Lead paediatric physiotherapy services, inspire your team, and shape the future of children's allied health care

Are you an experienced paediatric physiotherapist with a passion for clinical leadership and service development? Macquarie University Health Kids is seeking a Senior Physiotherapist (Paediatrics) to lead our physiotherapy team and deliver exceptional, evidence-based care to children and their families. In this permanent, full-time role, you will drive the delivery of high-quality physiotherapy services across outpatient and community settings, working with children presenting with complex neurological and musculoskeletal conditions, hypermobility syndromes, developmental delay, and atypical development. You'll provide clinical supervision and line management to the physiotherapy team while contributing to the strategic growth and development of paediatric services within Macquarie University Health Kids.

About the Role

Reporting to the Macquarie University Health Kids Team Lead and Director of Allied Health, the Senior Physiotherapist (Paediatrics) is responsible for clinical service delivery, team leadership, and service planning across the physiotherapy discipline within Macquarie University Health Kids. Key responsibilities include:

Clinical

• Deliver evidence-based physiotherapy assessment and intervention to children with complex neurological and musculoskeletal conditions, hypermobility syndromes, developmental delay, and atypical development.
  
• Manage referrals and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences.
  
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and prepare reports for referring clinicians.

Clinical Supervision and Team Leadership

• Provide structured clinical supervision, observation, and feedback to physiotherapy team members.
  
• Manage day-to-day team operations including caseload allocation, scheduling, and workforce coverage.
  
• Foster evidence-based practice through journal clubs, case discussions, and in-service education.

Service Planning and Clinical Governance

• Contribute to strategic planning and expansion of physiotherapy services within Macquarie University Health Kids.
  
• Develop and review clinical pathways, policies, and guidelines.
  
• Lead clinical governance activities including outcome monitoring, audits, and incident management.
  
• Support clinical placements for Macquarie University physiotherapy students.

About You

You are a highly skilled and motivated paediatric physiotherapist who thrives in a leadership role. You bring a strong clinical foundation, a genuine commitment to family-centred care, and the ability to inspire and develop a team. You are collaborative, solutions-focused, and passionate about driving service excellence and innovation in paediatric allied health.

Selection Criteria

• Tertiary qualification in Physiotherapy and current general registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia/AHPRA.
  
• Minimum 5 years' demonstrated experience providing physiotherapy services to infants, children, and/or adolescents in outpatient and/or community settings, including children with complex neurological and musculoskeletal conditions, developmental delay, and atypical development.
  
• Demonstrated leadership or management experience within a health service or allied health context, including team management, workforce planning, and/or service development.
  
• Proven experience providing clinical supervision and mentoring to junior physiotherapy staff and/or students.
  
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to build rapport and empathise with patients, families/carers, and colleagues.
  
• Knowledge of relevant clinical governance frameworks and demonstrated ability to apply these within a health service context.
  
• Commitment to patient and family-centred, evidence-based care, and demonstrated involvement in service development and continuous improvement.
